About Your Session In Our ‘Zen Zone’
Food and drinks can be ordered whilst you are in the ‘Zen Zone’ session, or arrive a little earlier to order before your session, so you can either consume prior to your session or take it in with you. Consuming food and drinks in the ‘Zen Zone’ is at your own risk and The Cat Retreat Cafe will not be held responsible for either cat hair in, or a cat trying to share your food and drinks.
Want to get maximum time inside the ‘Zen Zone’… Enjoy the use of our groovy, cat themed cafe environment before or after your booked session to enjoy your drinks and food (subject to Cafe open hours).
Cat Cafe Hours
Wednesday to Saturday 8:30am – 2:00pm
CLOSED Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Public Holidays
Come and enjoy the serenity for a relaxing drink and snack in our ‘cat themed’ Café or have the ultimate cat experience chilling out in the ‘Zen Zone’ with the cats.
Is there public transport or parking nearby?
Unfortunately, we are not near public transport, but our property has plenty of parking available.
Is there wheelchair access?
Yes, we have a ramp into the building with full, easy access to all areas including the bathroom.
Can I bring my own cat…or dog?
Sorry, no pets allowed, with the exception of an assistance dog, under direct supervision.
How many cats will be there for a cuddle?
We aim to have approximately 6 – 8 cats at any one time, depending on suitability and availability of the rescue cats from SCARS.
Is it child friendly?
Yes, the Cat Cafe is baby and child friendly, although, all children under the age of 15 must remain quiet and calm and to be under constant Parent/Guardian supervision.
We also have a baby change facility and access for prams.
Unfortunately, the ‘Zen Zone’ (interactive cat environment) is only available for children 5 years and over. Although, a family with children under the age of 5 may like to see how their potential new cat will react with the children, we can provide a separate area once an expression of interest has been provided to the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge.
The Cat Retreat Café advises that there are possible risks to children who enter the Zen Zone (interactive cat environment), and that the parent/guardian is wholly responsible for their child’s behaviour. Cats can be sensitive and unpredictable when feeling threatened and, although there will be a supervising staff member for the safety and wellbeing of the cats, they are not responsible for the cat’s behaviour should a child threaten or hurt a cat. Unfortunately, the Zen Zone is not a child’s playground, and if a child between 5 and 15 is not complying with the T&C’s, they will be asked to leave the Zen Zone immediately, accompanied by their parent/guardian, with no refund.
What if I have an allergic reaction?
That would be my worst nightmare if I was allergic to cats! Most people are aware of their allergies, and should take necessary precautions when visiting the Cat Retreat Café including bringing along your own medication. Otherwise, we are 10 minutes to the nearest Doctor’s clinic and Chemist. If you are unsure of your allergies, please talk to the Concierge on arrival and they can make suggestions for an enjoyable experience.
I’ve booked a ‘Zen Zone’ session, what do I do when I arrive?
You will be met by the Concierge in the foyer who will direct you to the Cat Café, where you will check in. You will receive an entry ticket once the Concierge or Café staff have sighted your Identification (Driver’s Licence or passport to match the booking), and you have signed the T&C’s form. You can then order your food and beverages to enjoy prior to your session or to take into the Zen Zone with you. When it is your session time, the Concierge will give you a quick briefing of the entry conditions then direct you into the Zen Zone….then you have the most enjoyable, memorable, relaxed time in our cat-filled luxurious environment.
Can I get a refund?
- Not if booking is cancelled within 48 hours of the session or no-show
- Not if visitor or visitor’s children are refused admission or asked to vacate cat environment due to non-compliance/breach of the conditions
- Not if arriving late for your booked session
- Not if visitor doesn’t participate in all activities within cat environment
For more information, read our Terms & Conditions of Entry.
Are mobile phones allowed?

We do allow photography (no flashes please) from mobile phones and you are welcome to add photos of yourself to your own social media platform at your own discretion. Please no photos of other patrons allowed. All visitors are also prohibited from advertising, for own business activity, any of the cats, the Cat Café, or the cat environment.

Can I bring my own cat food to feed the cats?
Absolutely not. All of the cats are on carefully monitored specific diets.
